Breast Reduction

Breast with large volume eventually become a hindrance in lives of women who have difficulty dressing appropriately, may have skin irritation beneath the breast, deep marks on the shoulders due to the excessive pressure exerted by the bra straps and back pain due to breast weight. Generally, the action of gravity ends up making the breasts with a fallen aspect, when is essential the use of bra. Patients with large breasts who never had children and are below the fourth decade of life usually have breasts of good consistency. Most women who have gone through a process of pregnancy are above the fourth decade of life or had a history of major hormonal changes are associated with the large volume sagging. The role of plastic surgeon is to indicate a technique that produces the best results in terms of form and consistency associated with the small scars and good positioning. Importantly, women who experience back pain and shoulder attributable to overweight breast may not improve their symptoms after surgery, so surgery is not performed in order to reduce or eliminate pain, though this may occur as a secondary effect on many people.

Candidates

Women who feel that their breasts are large and / or fallen, have difficulty putting blouses with no bra and wish to improve the body silhouette.

Total duration of surgery

From 90 to 150 minutes.

Oupatient

Outpatient 4-12 hours after the surgery.

Recovery

Back to work, if not an exhausting physical activity, it is possible within a few days. The scar takes several months to become unoticeable, in some cases can take a year or more. The dressings should be changed in the first two weeks after the operation. Shower is allowed 24 hours after surgery and the stitches are removed after the seventh day. A special bra should be worn for one month, driving is allowed after two weeks and exercise only after two to three weeks.

Objectives

To improve the breast volume. Position the areolas and nipples. Improve body balance.

Anesthesia

Epidural with sedation.

Incisions and tries

Our goal is to make the smallest possible scars, but the size of the scars is directly proportional to the amount of skin and breast tissue that needs to be removed, so we need to leave a circular scar around the areola and also a vertical scar of four or six inches. If the amount of excess skin is very large we still have to add a horizontal scar which can range from 4 to 15 cm.

Undesirable effects

There will be some pain and discomfort (controllable with analgesics), increased sensitivity, swelling, change in nipple sensation and possibly bruising for two to three weeks.
