Nose

A modern nasal plastic surgery aims to harmonize the face of (a) patient fixing only those aspects that are unfit for anatomical current aesthetic standards of facial beauty. In this context, one must take into account factors such as gender and ethnicity of each person. It is not intended to completely change the nose and face, but smooth characteristic features of nasal anatomy that make the face loaded with the stigma of a clumsy nose.
A thorough preoperative evaluation is necessary for you to better understand their particular condition and outline the goals with your surgeon, clearly discussing the possible risks and benefits you would have with the procedure, including the association with other facial correction, as often occurs with the chin, which often shows a disharmony in relation to nose.
Functional alterations such as septal deviation, turbinate hypertrophy, rhinitis etc., should be evaluated for possible surgical indication. In some cases you may need to involve an ENT surgeon to fix specific problems at the same operative time, or in another opportunity.

Candidates

Patients who present disproportion between the nose and face, or have aspects that affect the aesthetic harmony of the nose . The minimum age to undergo plastic surgery nose is 15 years, since at this stage of life, the facial skeleton is already well developed, allowing significant and permanent results. Girls must have passed at least 2 years after their first menstruation. Young patients should be advised carefully to understand the reasons that motivates the desire to change your nose. Importantly, the change must satisfy the patient, avoiding influences from relatives and friends. The upper age limit for rhinoplasty largely depends on the health status of the patient. It is known that with aging the nasal tip has the tendency to drop, and this surgery can correct this drooping tip providing rejuvenation. There is no maximum age, if clinical conditions are provided for surgical procedure and anesthesia. Each patient can identify your ideal time to undergo this surgery, if well informed about all its peculiarities.

Recovery

Bruising around the eyes and cheeks may appear soon after surgery and disappear within two weeks. Make-up can be used to cover the affected area. Most of the swelling disappears on the first month, but there may be residual swelling up to six months. A dressing of semi-rigid material will remain for one week, when it will be replaced by a smaller dressing with micropore tape, that should be protecting the area for another week. The few points made will be absorbed by your body naturally in one to two weeks. Usually back to work in a week. Strenuous activities: 2 to 3 weeks. Sun Exposure: 1 to 2 months. Patients rarely complain of pain with this procedure, although we can not guarantee this development, since the threshold of pain can vary significantly from one person to another. If there is any discomfort, the conventional medications are sufficient to solve the problem, always with the appropriate knowledge and doctor’s prescription.

Objectives

Reshape the nose by reducing or increasing size, removing a “bump” changing shape of tip or back, narrowing the nostrils, or changing angle between nose and upper lip or between the nose and forehead. Surgery can also relieve some breathing problems. The skin type and the size and shape of the nose are compared to the face.

Incisions and technique

The result of rhinoplasty varies depending on several factors, skin type, shape of nose, cartilaginous and bony structures. The nose may be increased or decreased, the nostrils can be narrowed, the tip reshaped and elevated. Usually all the incisions are inside the nose. To reduce the base of the nostrils small incisions are placed there, concealed in the natural crease. Through the incisions, we treat the bones, narrow and straight nose. To augment the nose and disguise some angles you can use the association with Bioplasty.
